ALFREDO MERCADO - Staff Coach
Alfredo Mercado is a young, ambitious coach who’s journey to success has only begun. After learning about soccer at 10 years old, Alfredo was quick to develop a hard-working ethic and determination to be better every day. Alfredo learned how to play soccer in his local parks and schools, which helped him form an open-minded mentality, understanding that people learn in different environments and at different rates.
Alfredo went on to play for his middle and high school teams, being one of the hardest-working individuals in both. While in high school, he helped his coach organize and lead summer camps for young children in his community. However, it wasn’t until Alfredo attended Texas A&M University that his desire to become a coach began. Alfredo enrolled in a Kinesiology: Exercise and Sport Science major and later pursued a minor In Coaching. It’s here where he started to network and met coaches from all over the nation through professors, guest speaker sessions, organizations, and even Ted Talks.
After excelling in classes for his degree and his minor, Alfredo was introduced to Coach Wade Breaux who brought about the idea to him about the U.S. Soccer Coaching Education process. Immediately thereafter, Alfredo completed his grassroots license and is now about to complete his D License. Alfredo also began to look for experience during college and coached for Brazos Valley Cavalry Youth Soccer Club in College Station, Tx. It was there where his passion for educating and guiding others through the love of soccer was only confirmed and began to grow more than it previously had.
Alfredo attended middle school, high school, and college in 3 different environments. He considers this to be an important factor in his open-mindedness and ability to communicate with people of different backgrounds. Entering Team Chicago Soccer Club, Alfredo seeks to continue to network, lead those who will lay under his guidance, and excel in a new environment once again. Alfredo hopes to keep growing as a coach and as an individual, while helping those around him do so as well.
